"Burial of the remains of an animal in a human cemetery

I have been thinking about the death of a man and the death of an animal. Ever since my childhood I have considered cemeteries as sacred places which must not be disturbed and where animals are not allowed to enter. The wall surrounding a cemetery is a boundary which defines a space devoted only to human beings. There is more than one reason why I think that burying an animal next to a man does not mean disgracing a reverent place. Men and animals have lived next to each other from time immemorial and all species have inhabited a common space – the Earth. Therefore it is only natural to lie close to each other after death. And this is why I decided to carry out this performance. However, I decided to bury in a forest a trophy of a stag that grew up and was shot in a game reserve which was used for commercial hunting. This stag always lived in a fenced in space and never knew what it was like to live in the wild. I had a coffin made, the shape of which copied the shape of the stag’s skull. I tried to bury it a couple of times in different functional cemeteries but I was not successful. Finally, I managed to bury it in a no longer used cemetery. In a place people are no longer interested in and in a place that is totally neglected and over-grown. It is a paradoxical end and has a lot to say about our relationship towards the dead. Although the deceased still rest there, people are no longer interested in what is happening in the disused cemetery. The forgotten and neglected cemetery slowly begins to look like wilderness again. The course of this performance became more important for me than the final stage on which I originally concentrated.
